Xiaomi has confirmed that its YU7 GT electric performance SUV set the first-ever autonomous driving lap record at the Nürburgring Nordschleife circuit. The vehicle completed validation testing on the track without any human intervention, establishing a production software baseline. This achievement follows the model's commercial release.
The YU7 GT is built on an 897V silicon carbide high-voltage platform, paired with a 101.7 kWh ternary lithium battery pack. This powertrain feeds the proprietary Super Motor V8s EVO setup, which optimizes thermal efficiency and electrical output during sustained high-load track conditions. The hardware supports rapid heat dissipation during high-speed directional changes.
Powertrain and performance
The propulsion system generates a peak output of 738 kW (1,003 hp), enabling acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.92 seconds, with a regulated top speed of 300 km/h. Under standard testing, the vehicle achieves a certified CLTC range of 705 km on a full charge.
The high-voltage charging architecture can replenish the battery pack quickly, adding up to 570 km of range in just 15 minutes. This addresses common thermal bottlenecks in high-performance electric platforms. Engineers designed the system to maintain stable power delivery over extended operating cycles.
The battery uses an advanced cooling layout to prevent core temperature spikes during rapid energy discharge, ensuring structural integrity and uniform current density under high electrical stress. This design supports the prolonged peak output required by autonomous racing algorithms.
Track testing context
The autonomous driving system recorded an official lap time of 10 minutes and 29.483 seconds during trials. This automated run was 3 minutes and 7 seconds slower than a driver-achieved time, highlighting the difference between algorithmic safety parameters and human boundary testing.
Earlier manual evaluations set a SUV record of 7 minutes and 22.755 seconds during development, improving on previous segment benchmarks. Separate validation records documented an alternative initial lap time of 7 minutes and 34.931 seconds.
Market delivery metrics
Commercial distribution began with an entry price of 389,900 yuan (57,596 USD). The fully equipped version is priced at 429,900 yuan (63,505 USD), positioning the model in the upper tier of domestic electric utility vehicles.
Domestic sales reached 8,736 units in May 2026, an 11.5% month-on-month decline from 9,876 units in April. This followed peak deliveries of 37,869 units in January and 39,089 units in December 2025, according to China EV DataTracker.
