The BYD Linghui M9, a new flagship hybrid multi-purpose vehicle (MPV), has started appearing in showrooms throughout China, according to Linghui. Aimed at corporate fleets and private family buyers, the model is rolling out nationwide ahead of its formal market debut. However, official price lists have not yet been released.

This new vehicle is part of a dedicated business ecosystem designed to separate fleet operations from BYD’s premium consumer brand. It integrates the Eye of the Gods advanced driving assistance system and the DiSus intelligent body control platform. The engineering setup combines a fifth-generation dual-mode plug-in hybrid with an eight-in-one electric powertrain.

Mobility brand strategy

BYD launched the Linghui sub-brand to reduce potential negative sales impact from ride-hailing associations on its standard retail lineup. This strategy enables the automaker to secure high-volume commercial mobility contracts while safeguarding residual values of its passenger cars. The flagship MPV follows the earlier release of official images for the ride-hailing market.

Powertrain and hardware

The flagship model uses advanced thermal management systems alongside an optimized eight-in-one electric powertrain. It follows the Linghui e9 sedan, which entered the market with flash charging capabilities for commercial use. That sedan relies on second-generation blade battery technology for faster charging.

The electric sedan starts at 150,800 yuan (about $22,198 USD) for the base variant. Higher trims are priced at 159,800 yuan ($23,523 USD) and 169,800 yuan ($24,995 USD). These figures provide a reference point for the upcoming van’s pricing.

Domestic sales trends

The commercial MPV arrives as demand for its family-oriented stablemate shifts. The upscale consumer-focused BYD M9, known as the Xia in China, recorded 732 sales in January, falling to 625 in February. March saw 897 units, but deliveries dropped to 648 in May, according to China EV DataTracker.
